Here’s some news for OFWs who plan on getting Overseas exit Clearance.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) warned overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to be wary of fake overseas employment certificates or e-receipts.
E-receipts are needed to prove that an OFW has gone through the legitimate POEA processes before being deployed.
This May, POEA caught 2 OFWs trying to go to Korea using fake e-receipts.
According to POEA, there are 1,000 fake e-receipts in circulation, and their serial numbers were copied from a batch of certificates that went missing from POEA inventories last December.
The e-receipts have serial numbers from 505-9001 up to 506-0000.
But POEA has already reprinted a new batch of e-certificates using the same serial numbers, causing confusion as to which certificates are legitimate.
POEA said that they have informed the Bureau of Immigration and the National Bureau of Investigation about the e-receipts. So far, they have managed to catch 25 of the fake certificates.
