No More Age Limit

It is only a matter of time before the Anti-age Discrimination Bill is finally approved and enacted into law.  After the Senate adopted the Congress’ version of the bill last May 30, the only thing lacking now is the President’s signature.

What are the things that we can all look forward to once this law is implemented?

  • The bill seeks to promote equal opportunities in employment for everyone so that individuals are evaluated for employment on the basis of their abilities, knowledge, skills, and qualifications rather than their age.
  • It shall prohibit employers from making the age a qualification (and effectively, disqualification) for an individual to be considered for a job position.  In announcements for job vacancies, employers must not suggest a preference, limitation, specification, or discrimination based on age.
  • Likewise, employers must not require their applicants to indicate their age or birth date on application forms and in any part of the application process.  Applicants must not be rejected due to an individual’s age.
  • Compensation and privileges must be equal to all employees, regardless of age.

The bill was authored by Senator Pia Cayetano.

Good day everyone,been stand by for almost three yes back home in our country.hopeless to find a job because of my age.how I wish to work again but really such a very hopeful for this new law that a person like me can work again without ages limit.been an ofw in Singapore for more than ten yrs.so hopefully I can get a job the soonest .

  2. maganda yung batas na yan kaso madali lang lusutan yan. tatanggapin nila application mo for for formality. para di nmn unfair sayo or wala kang masabi..then after exam or interview .sasabihin nila di ka pasado sa exam or interview..kahit madali nmn para sayo ang exam and maayos nmn usapan nyo sa interview.. mag rereklamo ka sa DOLE? wala ka nmn evidence verbal lang usapan nyo..minsan mas maganda na rin ilagay yung age bracket para di kana mag aksaya ng panahon at oras at pera. Nasa Company pa rin tlg ang desisyon sila rin nmn kasi ang mag papasweldo. unless mag bibigay ang gov ng reward like discount sa tax nababayaran n
    ila pag marami sila na hire na matatanda,,,maniwalalang ako totoo yan pag may nakita nko sa mcdo, joilibee at SM na matandang sevice crew…posible nmn kung sa ibang bansa nagagawa nga..sa Ibang bansa yun.

Tama po yan,may nakausap nga ako employer at sabi nya hindi raw sila masisisi kung pumili sila ng mga workers na mas bata dahil mas mabilis raw magtrabaho at bibilang pa ng maraming taon bago magretire.alam naman ng lahat may nakukuha mangagawa sa employer pag nagretiro na so in other words…iwas pusoy.

  3. Dapat lng po walang age limit. As long as one can work, physically capable, healthy, can read and write there’s no reason n hindi puedeng hindi makapagtrabaho ang isang mamamayang pilipino s kayang sariling bayan.
    Napakahirap po maghanap ng trabaho dito s pilipinas lalo n at may discriminasyon s edad.
    Mas makakabuti rin po n kusang loob Ang pagreretiro at hindi po early retirement o force retirement dahil lng s edad.
    Dapat din po n ang lahat ng benefits ay legal n maibibigay at matatanggap ng isang may edad n empleyado at hindi n kelangan patagalin o pabalik balikin at hingan ng kung ano anong dokumento.
    Kung may discriminasyon s edad di dpat po pti ung presidente o mga senador o mga congressman natin ay may age limit din. Kung may age limit s mga ordinaryong trabahador dpat meron ein khit s kanila isama nio p ung mga justices teachers at kung sino sino p.
    Sana nga po ay maapprobahan n at mapirmahan n ng presidente ang panukalang ito pwra nman po patulloy n makapagtrabaho ang mga may edad n tulad ko. Ako po ay 58 yrs old n at kasalukuyang namamasukan bilang yaya.

  5. I hope annulment cases must not be so expensive and the processing shouldn¥’t take very long..only the celebrities and rich people can only afford the payment..how about the ordinary people?
